Early Life and Struggles of Akram Ahmad

Dr. Ahmad was born into a farming family in Uttar Pradesh and dreamed of becoming a pharmacist with his own medical store. His academic prowess led his father to enroll him in medical education, culminating in a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Annamalai University. During a conversation with a US speaker at his university, Ahmad learned about the opportunities for medical professionals abroad.

Exploring Opportunities Abroad

Dr. Ahmad seized various opportunities, starting his career as a pharmacology lecturer in Malaysia. He later found success in Sydney and Malaysia.

While pursuing a PhD at the University of Sydney, Ahmad observed that many medical professionals from India and other countries moved abroad seeking better career opportunities in medicine. However, due to a lack of knowledge about resource materials, licensing exams, and career pathways, many ended up in low-paying jobs.

The Birth of Academically Global

While working as a research manager at Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, Dr. Ahmad began sharing information on YouTube about licensing exams for foreign medical jobs, amassing a significant following.

In 2022, Dr. Ahmad left his Rs 6 lakh-per-month job to launch Academically Global, an EdTech platform based in Sydney and India. This platform provides medical professionals with courses to prepare for licensing exams for higher-paying jobs abroad. Starting with an investment of approximately $50,000, Academically Global saw a substantial increase in applicants. The platform now serves students in 75 countries and generates a monthly revenue of Rs 2 crore.
